Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Lactation Consultant to provide expert breastfeeding support across childbirth and postpartum care. This PRN role offers flexible hours based on coverage needs and patient volume, with RN experience preferred.

You will educate families, support pump use, document care, and collaborate with the healthcare team to improve breastfeeding outcomes and patient education.

Qualifications

• IBCLC certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• RN license preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized breastfeeding education, support, and consultation to patients and families.
• Educate healthcare teams and parents on breastfeeding benefits and evidence-based practices.
• Assess breastfeeding needs and develop individualized plans to support successful breastfeeding.
• Provide hands-on guidance with positioning, latch, feeding techniques, and challenges.
• Assist with breast pump selection and proper use instruction.
• Document lactation assessments, education, interventions, and responses in the medical record.
• Contribute to data collection and quality improvement initiatives related to breastfeeding outcomes.
