Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Lactation Consultant to provide expert breastfeeding support across the childbirth and postpartum continuum. This PRN role offers flexible hours to meet department needs and patient volume.

RN experience is preferred, with IBCLC certification required. Responsibilities include individualized education, hands-on guidance, pump selection, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• IBCLC certification is required.
• Two years of relevant experience preferred.
• RN license preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized breastfeeding and lactation education and support to patients and families.
• Educate healthcare team members on breastfeeding guidelines and best practices.
• Assess breastfeeding needs and develop plans to support successful breastfeeding.
• Provide hands-on guidance on positioning, latch, and feeding techniques.
• Document lactation assessments and patient responses in the medical record.
• Collaborate with nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to support breastfeeding goals.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to breastfeeding outcomes.
