Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is seeking a Lactation Consultant RN to create breastfeeding plans, educate parents and staff, update protocols, and provide consults. The role ensures infants and parents receive optimal breastfeeding support within the hospital.

The position requires an associate degree in nursing, RN licensure, BLS certification, and lactation credentials (CLC/IBCLC). Experience in lactation services and bedside consultations is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, preferably in nursing.
• A minimum of two years of professional experience is needed.
• Certification or licensure in areas including BLS Certification, Registered Nurse, and Lactation consultant certification (CLC/IBCLC).

Responsibilities

• Encourage breastfeeding for infant health. Offer consultations, materials, and classes to help parents and the medical team.
• Evaluate parent and baby interest in breastfeeding.
• Provide bedside consultations and follow-up visits in the hospital.
• Keep the medical staff updated, providing education about breastfeeding protocols, care plans, and recent information.
• Document all teachings and responses, and communicate these findings to the relevant staff members.
• Regularly assess the efficiency of the breastfeeding program and make necessary changes if required.
• Participate in collecting data and reporting on neonatal outcomes related to breastfeeding.
• Provide parents with information and demonstrations about breast pump rentals or purchases, if required.
