Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Lactation Consultant to lead lactation services within the Maternal-Child Services team in New Jersey. You will plan and teach classes for new parents, conduct bedside rounds, and collaborate with obstetric and pediatric teams to support breastfeeding success.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Nursing with at least three years in maternal-child health and lactation consulting, plus strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; three years experience in maternal-child health nursing; three years in lactation consulting; demonstrated ability to lead, organize, manage and develop lactation services; excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office/Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a nurse leader and member of the Maternal-Child Services leadership team.
• Plans, teaches and evaluates classes for expectant and new breastfeeding mothers.
• Creates a milieu that promotes learning for staff and patients.
• Conducts bedside lactation rounds daily.
• Consults with mothers having breastfeeding problems.
• Collaborates with OB/Gyns, CNMs, Pediatricians, Neonatologists, Anesthesiologists.
• Participates in community activities and health fairs as required by leadership.
• Plans, teaches and conducts in-service education for maternity nursing staff.
• Plans, organizes and provides lactation services to all breastfeeding inpatients and outpatients.
• Provides consultative services to new parents by phone as needed.
