Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Lactation Consultant to provide assessment, intervention and education regarding breastfeeding across the network for childbearing families choosing to breastfeed. You will document teaching and interventions and assist with nursing staff competencies and physician education regarding breastfeeding.

The role requires a NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License and a minimum of two years of OB nursing experience, with strong communication and computer

Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
Two years of OB nursing experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

Assesses patient understanding of breastfeeding signs and techniques.
Demonstrates age-specific breastfeeding competencies during care.
Communicates breastfeeding skills to mothers and families.
Makes follow-up calls after discharge to assess outcomes.
Plans a patient/family focused care plan across the continuum.
Adheres to organizational competencies and standards.
