Job summary

Anderson Hospital seeks a skilled Lactation Consultant to provide breastfeeding support and education across obstetric and pediatric care teams. You will document care and ensure patient safety while upholding rights and policies.

You will develop, teach and evaluate the Prenatal Breastfeeding Class, maintain the Pavilion Lactation Station, and participate in quality improvement with Nursing leadership.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Illinois license or eligible to practice.
• CLC certification required and IBCLC within 2 years.
• Minimum 2 years obstetric nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Practices autonomously within the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
• Provides breastfeeding support and education to mothers and families.
• Develops, teaches and evaluates the Prenatal Breastfeeding Class.
• Maintains and updates the Pavilion Lactation Station and related materials.
• Consults with obstetricians, pediatricians and nursing staff on individual care plans.
• Documents readiness to learn, barriers and outcomes; participates in quality improvement.
