Responsibilities

• Provides individual/group counseling and education to new mothers and families about lactation and infant nutrition.
• Conducts assessments of mothers and infants at high risk and provides counseling in person or by phone.
• Develops care plans and follows up on breastfeeding progress, documenting outcomes.
• Develops, maintains policies for lactation support based on evidence‑based practice.
• Plans and evaluates lactation classes for expectant and new mothers.
