Job summary

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is seeking a Lactation Consultant RN to provide specialized care for breastfeeding mothers and infants. You will educate, assess, and support successful breastfeeding practices, working closely with NICU teams to tailor feeding plans for vulnerable babies.

Required is an Associate's Degree in Nursing with active RN license and BLS; CLC certification is required, and IBCLC is preferred. Per diem, onsite role with day shifts and a collaborative hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
• RN state license required.
• BLS certification required.
• CLC certification required.
• IBCLC certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of clinical acute care hospital nursing experience with lactation support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate mothers on breastfeeding benefits and proper latch, positioning, and feeding techniques.
• Advise on managing common breastfeeding challenges such as nipple pain, engorgement, and low milk supply.
• Provide guidance on pumping, storage, and handling of breast milk.
• Conduct thorough assessments of mothers and infants to identify lactation issues.
• Develop individualized care plans to address breastfeeding problems and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with NICU staff to tailor feeding strategies for preterm or medically fragile babies.
