Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a compassionate Lactation Consultant PRN to support mothers and babies and lead breastfeeding classes. You will advise physicians on lactation issues, provide patient education, and promote breastfeeding with evidence-based practices.

The role requires BLS and entails working with neonates, infants, adolescents, and adults, under supervision with a strong emphasis on baby-friendly designation.

Qualifications

• Education required for certification.
• 1 year experience directly related to major responsibilities required.
• BLS required, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant preferred (must be obtained prior to two year anniversary)

Responsibilities

• Identifies and corrects lactation problems.
• Leads breastfeeding classes for expecting mothers.
• Advises physicians and healthcare providers on lactation issues.
• Promotes breastfeeding using evidence-based knowledge and supports breastfeeding families.
