Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Lactation Consultant in the Nursing department to provide professional nursing care and breastfeeding education for new mothers. The role maintains lactation support after discharge and works with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license in SC, an associate degree or diploma, CPR, and is Board Certified in Lactation with IBCLC preferred. This regular, full-time position operates in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree and current RN license in the state of South Carolina.
• CPR certification is required.
• Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification required.

Responsabilités

• Teaches patients about breastfeeding and assesses technique to provide support.
• Evaluates outcomes of patient teaching and adjusts care plans.
• Maintains patient documentation with confidentiality.
• Formulates a teaching plan based on learning needs and includes family teaching.
• Maintains Warm Line for post-discharge breastfeeding help.
• Provides in-service education for staff re breastfeeding practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the director of nursing.
