Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a Lactation Consultant to join the Labor Delivery Postpartum and Recovery Department. This part-time role offers 16 hours per week and requires an RN with acute care experience in Women’s Health or a PA, plus licensure. IBCLC standards knowledge is preferred.

The position emphasizes patient safety, education for families, and collaboration with the care team to support breastfeeding goals in a fast-paced obstetric setting.

Qualifications

• 1 year of acute care RN experience in Women's health required or 1 year of Physician Assistant experience.
• Registered nursing license required (or Physician Assistant license).
• Knowledge of lactation practice standards per IBLCE is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation support to breastfeeding women and families and help them set and achieve breastfeeding goals.
• Provide breastfeeding education to other healthcare professionals and team members.
• Maintain evidence-based care and culturally sensitive approaches in lactation practice.
