Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, NC is seeking a part-time Lactation Consultant for the Labor Delivery Postpartum and Recovery Department. The role is 16 hours per week, focused on breastfeeding support, education, and collaboration with the maternity care team.

The ideal candidate is a nurse (RN) with acute care experience in women's health, holding an RN license, and prepared to obtain perinatal certifications (NRP within 6 months, BLS within 90 days).

Qualifications

• RN with acute care experience in women's health is required.
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire; BLS within 90 days of hire.
• Active RN license or PA license is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidenced-based lactation care to breastfeeding women and families.
• Educate other health care professionals on lactation practice standards (IBLCE).
• Coordinate with Labor Delivery, Postpartum and Recovery teams to support breastfeeding goals.
• Deliver culturally sensitive customer service and safe patient care in a fast-paced setting.
