Job summary

SCJ Alliance is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager and Lacey Team Lead to shape the future of our Lacey transportation practice. You will lead a nine-person team, manage projects that improve how communities move, and cultivate client relationships that generate new opportunities.

The role blends project delivery, people leadership, and business development within a 100% employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer license.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible transportation engineering experience, including project management.
• Experience managing transportation design projects and preparing or overseeing plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Ability to develop scopes, fees, schedules, and work plans, and manage project financial performance.
• Experience with public agency clients; WSDOT experience preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, including mentoring staff and delegating tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation projects from start to finish, developing scopes, fees, and schedules with clients.
• Provide technical direction and evaluate design alternatives.
• Coordinate contributions from other disciplines and subconsultants.
• Perform quality reviews and ensure QA/QC across reports and deliverables.
• Build trusted client relationships and manage project performance, budgets, and staffing.
• Lead and mentor engineers and designers, supporting career growth.
• Collaborate with other offices to mentor newer PMs in project controls and client communication.
• Identify staffing needs and coordinate workloads across offices.
• Contribute to proposals, interviews, and presentations to grow the practice.
