Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Laborer Journeyman in Wisconsin to support preparation, handling, and supply of materials for multiple crafts. Responsibilities include lifting, erecting scaffolding, leveling ground, and assisting with concrete and grout operations.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and effective communication with diverse teams. Visa sponsorship is not available; union benefits apply under our collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year apprenticeship program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment including power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation with a positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.

• Tend mortar and grout.
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• General cleanup and debris removal; sweeping, washing, unloading or burning debris.
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete.
• Vibrate concrete.
• Provide guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice.
• Build positive relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels.

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer Journeyman that will be responsible for the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend mortar and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
