Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer I to support construction projects by preparing, handling, and supplying materials for other crafts. You will load/unload equipment, set up scaffolding, mix and place concrete, and maintain a clean worksite while collaborating with diverse teams.

The role emphasizes teamwork, physical stamina, and adherence to safety. Prior apprenticeship and construction experience are valued; lifting up to 50 lbs is required.

Qualifications

• Two-year apprenticeship completed.
• Construction experience preferred.
• Ability to operate power and non-powered hand tools and equipment.
• Strong teamwork, positive attitude, and good customer service.
• Repetitive motions and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.

Laborer I

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer I that will be responsible for the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend mortar and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have completed a two (2) year apprenticeship
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

**for CA, CO, WA, MN only** The base pay range for this role is $Min - $Max per hour. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).

**for CA, CO, WA, MN only** Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
