Job Opportunity: Laborer at St. Louis County Department of Transportation and Public Works

The St. Louis County Department of Transportation and Public Works is seeking a laborer to perform manual labor, assist trades workers, and support specialized maintenance crews at their facilities in Clayton, Missouri.

Salary and Benefits: The typical starting salary ranges from $15.18 to $18.22 hourly, depending on qualifications, experience, and budget considerations. Responsibilities:

• Provide custodial care, cleaning, maintenance support, and minor repairs for County facilities, buildings, and grounds.
• Assist skilled trades workers with preventive maintenance, major repairs, or installations.
• Care for and propagate trees, shrubs, turf, and plants.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Selection Process:

A selection committee will evaluate applicants based on education, experience, answers to supplemental questions, references, and other relevant factors. Only the most qualified candidates will be invited for an interview, which accounts for 100% of the final grade. Candidates must score at least 70 points to qualify for appointment. After interviews, top candidates will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority for final decision. Conditional offers require a drug screening at the candidate's expense.
