What you will be doing:

  • Be responsible for the safe operation of a variety of hand and power tools, small equipment, and pickup truck used in grounds maintenance.
  • Perform unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor.
  • Duties include but are not limited to performing installation and maintenance of flowers, trees, and shrubs.
  • Works under direct supervision of Parks' Horticulturist.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • A valid Driver's License.
  • The ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
  • The ability to courteously and professionally interact with the public.
  • Must be able to perform heavy physical labor in all weather conditions.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Works primarily outdoors in all weather conditions. Exposure to heat, rain, dust and physical hazards associated with working in this environment. Potential Exposure to pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides. Use and training of safe methods of application for pesticides to control invasive and other undesirable plant material. Perfect opportunity to gain industry experience and learn from municipal horticulture experts. Season: April 1, 2023 to October 31, 2023; 40 hours/week
