Job description

Overview:

Laborer duties include general labor tasks related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various construction materials and equipment.
• Hand dig using shovels and mechanical tools.
• Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
• Climb into and out of equipment such as trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.
• Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Work in congested or remote areas.
• Maintain visual and audible contact with crew members and all moving or stationary objects to ensure safety.
• Perform general construction tasks under the direction of the Foreman/Supervisor.
• Flagging, property, or worksite restoration.
• Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.

Qualifications:

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to operate utility trucks and equipment safely.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Regular and timely attendance.
• Ability to perform physical tasks for at least 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential overtime, after-hours, weekends, or on-call work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• At least 6 months of experience in utility construction.
• Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, crouch, sit, bend, handle objects, reach, climb, balance, crawl, lift, and stoop during shifts.
• Work while wearing safety boots, glasses, and hardhat.
• Work in adverse weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, and dust.
• Exposure to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens.
• Regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
