Job description

Overview:

The Laborer will perform general labor duties related to telecommunications construction, under the direction of the Foreman/Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various construction materials and equipment.
• Hand dig using shovels and mechanical tools.
• Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
• Climb into and out of equipment such as trucks, backhoes, trenchers.
• Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Work in congested or remote areas.
• Maintain visual and audible contact with team members and ensure safe coordination of movement.
• Perform general construction work under supervision.
• Flagging, property, or worksite restoration.
• Maintain safe working conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.

Requirements:

• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to operate utility trucks and equipment safely.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual attendance.
• Ability to work at least 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential overtime, after-hours, weekends, or on-call duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• At least 6 months of experience in utility construction.
• Ability to read utility maps and prints.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, crouch, sit, bend, reach, climb, balance, crawl, lift (up to 100 lbs), and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
• Work while wearing safety gear such as boots, glasses, and hardhat.
• Exposure to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens possible.
