Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Laborers shall be responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the renovation of existing buildings and the erection of new structures. Primary duties include but are not limited to: unloading and loading materials, understanding plans and specifications, tending to machines, mixing and pouring concrete, and assisting carpenters, operating engineers, and other construction site workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Participate in the building and renovation of structures for commercial apartments, businesses, retail, assisted living facilities, and other construction sites.
2. Assist with demolition activities.
3. Provide support to construction managers as needed.
4. Be able to lift 70 lbs.
5. Keep work areas clean and free of debris – sweep, etc.
6. Prepare construction sites by removing debris and eliminating potential hazards.
7. Load or unload building materials to be used in construction.
8. Help build or dismantle bracing, barricades, forms (molds that determine the shape of concrete), scaffolding, and temporary structures.
9. Excavate trenches, backfill holes, or compact earth to prepare for construction activities.
10. Operate or tend to equipment and machines used in construction, such as concrete mixers.
11. Help other craft workers with their duties.
12. Follow construction plans and instructions from on-site supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be familiar with construction safety practices.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have access to reliable transportation.
• Project located in Portland, ME.
