Job summary

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. in Middle Tennessee is hiring Laborers to support asphalt operations on various projects. You will assist in general site tasks, help keep operations safe, and adapt to project needs.

Responsibilities include flagging traffic, erosion control, loading materials, spreading asphalt, cleaning the site, checking grade stakes, and maintaining equipment. Weekend work may be required; teamwork and safety are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Previous construction or labor experience is a plus.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Team player attitude with a safety and quality focus.
• Must be willing to work weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain erosion control measures.
• Load and unload materials as required for project needs.
• Shovel and rake dirt, gravel, and asphalt for surface prep.
• Perform general site cleanup and maintain a safe work area.

• Set up and maintain traffic control aids (signs, barriers, etc.).
• General maintenance of equipment and tools used on site.
• Assist in any other duties as directed by supervisors.

These positions involves performing various tasks on job sites, with duties that may change depending on the specific needs of each project. Laborers will assist in the general operation of the job site, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Flag trafficto ensure the safety of workers and the public on active job sites.
• Set up and maintain erosion control measuresto protect the site and surrounding areas.
• Load and unload materialsas required for project needs.
• Shovel and rake dirt, gravel, and asphalt, preparing surfaces for further work.
• Performgeneral site cleanup, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
• Check and maintain grade stakesto ensure correct elevation and alignment.
• Set up and maintain traffic control aids(signs, barriers, etc.) to manage site traffic.
• General maintenance of all equipment and toolsused on the job site.

Physical Requirements:

• The position requiresperiods of standing, walking, stooping, and bending.
• Ability to climb equipment laddersto reach the operator's seat.
• Must be able tolift up to 50 poundsperiodically.
• Ability to work invaried weather conditionsand outdoor environments.
