Job summary

Talley Construction, a CRH Company, is seeking an Asphalt General Laborer to join our paving crew near Chattanooga, TN. This role involves producing hot mix asphalt, plant maintenance, and supporting the team in varied outdoor conditions.

You will operate hand and power tools, perform basic maintenance, load materials, follow safety guidelines, and communicate with crew and supervisors. Prior asphalt or construction experience helps, but reliability and physical stamina are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior asphalt or general construction experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting up to 50 lbs).
• Must be punctual, dependable and able to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Grease plant/equipment and other preventative maintenance responsibilities.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools such as shovels, impacts, jackhammers, etc.
• Load, unload, and transport construction materials.
• Use skid steer and other tools to maintain and clean plant grounds.
• Identify and report maintenance and safety issues to supervisor.
• Put away tools and equipment each day.
• Follow all safety guidelines and always wear required PPE.
• Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Asphalt General Laborer

Department: Paving/Construction

Reports To: Foreman or Crew Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Work Conditions:

• Full-time, seasonal or year-round depending on project availability.
• Long hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Work is performed outdoors in varying conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise.
• Working around moving machinery and traffic inside quarry.
