Job summary

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. in Tennessee is hiring a Field Safety Representative to support safety at our asphalt operations across Middle Tennessee. The role involves field visits about 85% of the time and hands-on safety leadership.

You will train teams, travel within the state, and help protect workers and the traveling public by applying company safety programs and best practices.

Qualifications

• Ability to use standard computer software and systems.
• Comfort with public speaking and training large groups.
• Capable of making sound safety-related decisions.
• Willingness to travel across Tennessee, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety site visits at asphalt operations in Middle Tennessee.
• Provide safety training and site support to field staff.
• Ensure safety policies protect employees and the traveling public.
• Coordinate with divisions and on-call safety coverage, including night work.

Job description

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., the leading asphalt manufacturer, and road builder in the Southeast, have an immediate opening for a Field Safety Representative. This position will provide safety site support visits to our asphalt operations in Middle Tennessee. The Safety Representative will be expected to spend approximately 85% of their time in the field. This position will be responsible for a wide range of duties related to the safety of our employees and the traveling public in the State of Tennessee.

Principal Duties: Below are the duties that are priorities to the individual selected for the position:

• Basic computer skills
• No fear of public speaking
• Ability to conduct training to large groups
• Confidence in making decisions
• Able to travel within the state (possible overnight)
• Provide Site Support visits all divisions including night work
• Approachable personality and ability to build working relationships with fellow employees and supervision
• General understanding of road construction including bridge, grading, and asphalt construction.
• Have valid driver’s license
• Time Management Skills
