Job summary

The Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory at Washington State University seeks a Laboratory Technician 1 to perform routine lab work in Sample Receiving, triage and route samples, and enter data into the LIMS while operating lab equipment. You will work under supervision and support laboratory operations with aseptic technique.

Engage with clients and colleagues, demonstrate basic laboratory practices, and maintain safety in a BSL-2 environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved course by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists for laboratory assistants OR two years of chemical, or clinical or public health laboratory experience.
• Physical eligibility for working in a Biosafety Lab-2 environment.
• Ability to rotate holidays as scheduled.
• Must have or obtain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory procedures and triage, examine, evaluate, prepare, and route samples.
• Enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System and operate equipment.
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients and staff.
