CarbonFree in San Antonio is looking for a Lab Technician to support our company as it grows. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: running and maintaining an ICP-OES, GC and other lab analytical instruments, performing titrations on products and environmental samples, and being familiar with particle analysis equipment and methods such as laser diffraction and sieve testing. This role will report directly to our Lab Manager.

What You’ll Do

  1. Accurately prepare samples from raw material, in-process, and finished products
  2. Test and evaluate results for product performance using ICP-OES
  3. Prepare dilutions from stock solutions, perform wet chemistry titrations, and interpret test results
  4. Maintain and operate laboratory instruments including ICP-OES, GC, laser diffraction particle analysis, sieve shakers, IC, autotitrators, and UV-VIS spectrophotometer
  5. Generate certificates of analysis (CoAs) on finished products
  6. Manage time to provide results promptly
  7. Troubleshoot methods and instruments in the lab as needed
  8. Follow standard operating procedures and methods
  9. Maintain SDS for raw materials and products
  10. Prepare samples for outside testing laboratories
  11. Complete quality checks on finished products
  12. Communicate lab test results effectively to operations, engineering, sales, and customer service departments

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with no experience, or 1+ years in an analytical chemistry lab with some college chemistry coursework, or 3+ years in a chemical laboratory
  • Experience with ICP-OES and LIMS systems is required; GC experience is preferred
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), good communication skills, and ability to work independently
  • Understanding of good laboratory practices (GLP), attention to detail, and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
