Med-Medicine

The Renal-Electrolyte Division is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to work within one of our NIH (National Institutes of Health)- and DOD (Department of Defense)- and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)- funded laboratories. Our laboratory employs exciting cutting-edge methods from a variety of disciplines, including molecular biology, cellular biology, and animal physiology and pathology to investigate molecular pathways leading to progressive kidney injury.

Essential Functions
  • Performs laboratory testing and assays.
  • Prepare and test multiple types of specimens.
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and laboratory cleanliness.
  • Keeps detailed and accurate data and logbooks.
  • Organizes/documents results.
  • Maintains inventory, orders supplies/chemicals/reagents.
  • Organizes rodent colony and performs animal manipulations, surgeries, etc.
Physical Effort

Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
