Job summary

TridentCare is hiring a Laboratory Technician to perform routine to complex tests under supervision, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of patient results. You will monitor reagents, instrument conditions, and maintain quality control and documentation in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires an Associates degree with MLT certification and at least 1 year of chemistry/hematology experience; MS Word/Excel proficiency is needed.

Qualifications

• Associates degree with MLT certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in chemistry/hematology preferred.
• Familiar with operation of automated instrumentation used for routine analysis.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Performs lab testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.
• Checks quality control before running tests and reporting results.
• Enters results and edits as needed; ensures accurate reporting to supervisor.
• Maintains QC records and ensures compliance with documentation requirements.
• Troubleshoots instrument, client, or computer issues as they arise.
• Performs maintenance on automated instruments and daily QC review.

Description

Shift: Full Time
Pay Range: $30.00-$45.00/hr. Based on experience

ROLE:
Under supervision of Supervisor or Senior Technologist performs routine, moderate and complex laboratory tests. Also responsible for monitoring quality of reagents and working condition of instruments.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs lab testing in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.
• Checks the quality control of each test prior to running and reporting patient results.
• Calls work lists on the computer, does editing of results and data enters test results.
• Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing and bring any “rare and improbable” test results to the attention of a supervisor.
• Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed.
• Reviews daily specimen management reports.
• Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and ensures compliance with state requirements for documentation of lot numbers with quality control and specimen records.
• Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, computer) as needed.
• Performs maintenance on the automated Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis instrumentation as needed.
• Records the quality control and maintains the QC records on all assays performed.
• Data enters results into the computer.
• Ensures that QC is within appropriate limits and brings problems to supervisor.
• Reviews work lists and work from automated analyzers to ensure accuracy and timely reporting of patient results.
• Performs differentials and urine sediments as needed.
• Performs other tasks and procedures that are commensurate with education, training and abilities.
• Responsible for all clerical functions associated with specimen integrity, testing, identification and reporting of department testing.
• Follows all safety protocols as outlined in safety manual.
• Identifies and pursues self improvement needs
• Seeks coaching/mentoring when appropriate
• Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, and procedures including, but not limited to, those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA).
• Participates in required orientation, Compliance and HIPAA training programs.
• Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
• Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Associates degree with MLT certification required.
• Minimum of 1 (one) year experience in chemistry/hematology preferred.
• Must be familiar with all phases of the operation of the automated instrumentation utilized for routine analysis.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
