Job summary

Beaufort Memorial Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Team Coordinator to lead blood bank operations. The role ensures prompt, accurate lab procedures and regulatory compliance across JCAHO, CAP, FDA, AABB, and DHEC standards.

The candidate will oversee training, instrument calibration, reagent logs, and coordination with senior leadership to maintain quality and safety in the laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Associate in Science or Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology.
• Over two years experience preferred.
• National licensure as MT or MLT in all laboratory specialties. (ASCP) Preferred. If not licensed at hire, certification and licensure required within 2 years of hire date to remain employed.

Responsibilities

• Perform all laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance and review records to assure all preventative measures are being performed
• Reviews QC data to assure accuracy of results
• Reviews monthly reagent logs and calibration records for proper documentation, with recommendations for adherence to policies as needed
• Performs calibration procedures and trouble-shooting techniques in area of expertise
• Recommends to Senior Director new instrumentation, supplies, and new testing in department
• Maintains proficiency in assigned area and provides a reference for problems that may occur
• Assists in investigation of physician inquiries and occurrence reports
• Is responsible for regulatory requirements in area for JCAHO, CAP, FDA, AABB, DHEC, etc…
• Oversees training of personnel
• Updates departmental SOP, represents Lab on hospital committees, and compiles necessary reports pertinent to department

Education
