The role combines leadership, technical rigor, and strong communication to ensure safe, accurate, and reliable lab operations in a heavy industry setting. Responsibilities include supervising hourly union staff, auditing readiness, maintaining equipment, developing analytical methods, and coordinating with manufacturing to provide timely lab support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technical sciences or engineering or equivalent experience.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Strong verbal and written communication is essential.
• Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Ability to thrive in a diverse and dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and continuous improvement experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, schedule, and manage safety of hourly union employees.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Develop and implement processes for timely and accurate results and continuous improvement.
• Prepare for and participate in audits (Quality, Safety, Environmental, ISO 17025).
• Develop analytical methods and apply test methods (ASTM and others).
• Maintain equipment, calibrations, and inventory within budget.
• Coordinate with operations and contractors for work, deliveries, and services.
• Acquire, install, and set up new equipment.
