Job summary

Clean Harbors in El Dorado, AR is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the laboratory team and ensure accurate sample analysis while maintaining safety and QA standards.

You will coordinate with internal and external customers, lead method development, supervise staff, and manage equipment maintenance and documentation. Strong analytical skills and problem-solving mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science preferred.
  • 3-5 years in a laboratory environment preferred.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience in a lab environment preferred.
  • Supervising union employees is a plus.
  • Must communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA and company protocols.
  • Supervise the laboratory team to ensure sample analysis follows prescribed procedures.
  • Operate and troubleshoot instrumentation and communicate issues to the team.
  • Develop methods when new procedures or instrumentation are needed.
  • Maintain equipment and coordinate maintenance with outside vendors.
  • Complete all paperwork associated with analysis in a timely, neat manner.
  • Ensure QA/QC guidelines are met or exceeded.
  • Manage supply needs within area of responsibility.
  • Provide training and implement operational improvement strategies.

Job description

We are seeking a technical Laboratory Supervisor at our El Dorado, AR facility, to be responsible for the supervision of the laboratory team to ensure analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties. Communicate with various internal and external customers.

Schedule: M-F 7am-3pm (flexible)

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health & Safety and Compliance protocols.
  • Responsible for the supervision of the laboratory team to ensure analysis of samples following prescribed procedures with the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to understand, operate, troubleshooting instrumentation and communicate instrumentation issues to the team.
  • Works on method development when new procedures or instrumentations are needed.
  • Maintenance of equipment, including outside vendor scheduling per maintenance contract schedules and suggesting solutions to equipment problems and new/replacement laboratory equipment.
  • Completes all paperwork associated with the analysis in a neat and timely fashion.
  • Ensures that all meet or exceed all applicable QA/QC guidelines.
  • Responsible for meeting analytical testing schedules for required permits and discharges.
  • Responsible for supply management in their area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for problem solving when results fall outside of mandated specifications.
  • Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures.
  • Implements, maintains, and provides necessary training in accordance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan and other SOP’s.
  • Supervises the laboratory staff in all processes.
  • Trains members of the laboratory, implements and suggests operational improvement strategies, completes all personnel functions for the laboratory staff, including but not limited to interviewing, and performance evaluations, as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Working knowledge of the laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows based applications.
