Note: Benefits may vary based on position type and/or level *Job Summary* The Supervisor of Lab oversees routine lab activities. This ensures adequate staffing and timely, quality-standard tests. Assists with hiring, training, evaluations, and payroll. *Essential Functions of the Role* * Supervises the work of assigned subordinates in testing phases. Performs all delegated functions as defined by the facility CLIA Director. * Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel. Assists in selecting, orienting, training, assigning, evaluating, disciplining, and discharging employees. * Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to the laboratory, staffing, and scheduling. * Communicates and escalates staffing issues or other concerns to management in a timely manner. * Monitors the inventory system to ensure that necessary supplies are available as needed and in the proper quantity. * Assists with implementing quality assurance programs and maintains standards and records that document compliance with regulatory agencies. * Assists with reviewing quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance records, and any corrective actions. * Assists with the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets. *Key Success Factors* * Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures. * Statistical and critical thinking abilities. * Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions. * Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures. * Knowledge of safety and infection control standards. * Ability to work in a team environment. * Ability to make tactical judgments on allocating and directing supervised employees' work using established guidelines, policies, or procedures. * Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations. * Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff. * General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email. *Belonging Statement* We believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported, and that our workforce should be reflective of the communities we serve. *QUALIFICATIONS* *Location BSWH BUMC Downtown Dallas TX* *Department Lab Blood Bank * *Shift Day Monday - Friday 6am - 230pm * *Preferred Experience Must have MLS with at least 5 years of Blood Bank experience* * EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification * EXPERIENCE - 4 Years of Experience * CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - ASCP-BloodBanking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT), ASCP-Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC): Must have one of the following: * ASCP-BB * ASCP C * ASCP-CG * ASCP-CT * ASCP-H * ASCP-HT * ASCP-HTL * ASCP-M * ASCP-MB * ASCP-SBB * ASCP-SC * ASCP-SH * ASCP-SM * CHS-ABHI * CHT-ABHI * CLS * MLS * MT * SCT * SCYM * SMB.
