The State of Georgia seeks a part-time Laboratory Services Worker for Residential Construction and Carpentry in Lawrenceville. The role supports students, enforces safety, manages tools, inventories materials, and assists instructors within the Engineering Construction Manufacturing and Design Division.

This non-benefited, non-exempt position reports to the Program Director and offers up to $15.00 per hour with up to nineteen hours weekly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: 1–2 years in carpentry instructional aide role.
  • Demonstrates initiative and professionalism in appearance.
  • Good interpersonal skills with faculty, peers, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lab activities, enforce safety protocols, assist with grading projects, and document work.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, including ordering and stocking.
  • Keep labs and storage areas neat and organized.
  • Assist with grading course material.
  • Demonstrate effort, trustworthiness, and responsible behavior.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director.

This job is a part time, non-benefited, FLSA non – exempt position in the Engineering Construction Manufacturing and Design Division that reports to the Program Director of Residential Construction and Carpentry.

Salary: Up to $15.00 per hour.

Hours: May work up to nineteen (19) hours per week

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code T9001)
  • High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to applicants with 1-2 years of experience as a carpentry instructional aide.
  • Demonstrates initiative.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in appearance.
  • Possesses good interpersonal skills: with faculty; colleagues and peers; and students.
  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field is a plus.
Job Description Summary

Under close supervision, ensures students are following safe tool and building practices taught in the program, provides tool room support including signing out and returning tools to students, organizing the tool room area, cutting/organizing materials, inventory consumable parts and inform the Program Director when stock is low, and clean lab as requested.

  • Conduct lab activities (including enforcing safety protocols, demonstration of tasks, lab prep, help grading projects, and documentation). 45%
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, including ordering, stocking and organizing 20%
  • Ensure that labs and storage areas are neat and orderly. 10%
  • Assist with grading course material. 10%
