Job summary

TriCore Reference Laboratories at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque seeks a Laboratory Scientist. Under general supervision, you will perform waived, moderate, or high complexity tests, maintain equipment, and run QC to ensure patient testing accuracy.

You may participate in POCT oversight, assist with training, and interact with internal/external customers. This role requires compliance with CLIA regulations and offers a benefits package and a varied shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical science from an accredited institution.
• Associate’s degree in laboratory science (biology or chemistry) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• Education and training equivalent to an associate degree that includes at least 60 semester hours with required science/chemistry courses.
• Qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under CLIA regulations on or before February 28, 1992.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderate or high complexity laboratory testing with independence.
• Notes abnormal results and informs supervisor or pathologist.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and interfaces.
• Logs QC/QA data and monitors for trends; takes corrective action as needed.
• Performs troubleshooting and suggests solutions per guidelines.
• Participates in regulatory inspections.
• Takes inventory and orders supplies as directed.
• Assists with training of new staff or students.
• Serves as liaison with internal/external customers.
• Participates in POCT oversight program including training and troubleshooting.

Education
