Job summary

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead our laboratory team across multiple clinic locations. You will oversee phlebotomists, lab assistants, and medical laboratory technologists, managing staffing, scheduling, workflow, and staff development.

The role emphasizes quality assurance, regulatory readiness, and cost-effective operations, collaborating with Lab Quality & Compliance Manager and Laboratory Medical Director to uphold standards and improve processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
• MLS/MT certification through ASCP or equivalent.
• 4 years of laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of quality systems and regulatory requirements.
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise laboratory staff across multiple locations.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and daily workflow.
• Onboard and train staff; coach and manage performance.
• Monitor productivity, turnaround times, and patient flow.
• Address operational and personnel issues.
• Ensure regulatory readiness and implement quality initiatives.
• Monitor inventory and coordinate supplies.
• Collaborate with providers and other departments.
• Serve as a working supervisor in lab and phlebotomy tasks.
• Travel to satellite locations as needed.
