Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking a Laboratory Manager I to lead the Core Laboratory operations at Akron General Medical Center. The role supervises staff, ensures timely reporting of test results and upholds quality and regulatory standards.

You will oversee testing processes, personnel management, budget oversight, and collaboration with care teams to support high-quality patient care in a busy laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology.
• 5 years of clinical laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing.
• 3 years of clinical laboratory management or supervisory experience.
• Training/experience can be met by medical technology internship or full-time non-waived testing experience.
• Education outside the U.S. requires translation and credential evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and scientific leadership for laboratory operations.
• Oversee day-to-day lab activities, personnel, testing processes and reporting results.
• Maintain high standards of quality, efficiency and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee Core Laboratory operations and ensure workflow continuity across departments.
• Manage personnel, budgets, quality assurance and collaboration with care teams.
• Ensure patient test results are accurate and reported only after corrective actions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in chemical/biological/clinical or medical laboratory science

ASCP qualification equivalents (HTL/CT)
