Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or closely related field; and 1 year of relevant experience.
• Experience with microbial and molecular techniques including PCR and microbial culturing.
• Experience in laboratory operations, scheduling, and systems management.
• Experience educating and training personnel; maintaining supplies and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee activities of department personnel conducting research studies and routine analysis.
• Review, record, and report analysis data; correct discrepancies for client reports.
• Assist department staff with analysis tasks to ensure timely results.
• Manage departmental work schedules to maintain efficient operations.
• Communicate client requirements and project status to laboratory personnel and clients as needed.
• Oversee recruitment and retention for the department.
• Maintain knowledge of LIMS and ensure staff training on its use.
• Support quality control and continuous improvement processes within the lab.
• Address resource needs and issues like turn‑around time, overtime, and turnover.
