Centralus Health's Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital seeks an Assistant Laboratory Manager to support daily lab operations, drive quality and compliance, and lead staff to deliver accurate diagnostic services. The role partners with the Regional Laboratory Manager to implement system-wide strategies while tailoring execution to site needs.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field with 3–5 years progressive lab experience including supervisory/lead; or 7+ years lab experience with leadership.
• MLS/MT certification (ASCP or recognized certifying body).

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily laboratory operations at the site, ensuring workflow efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
• Supervises, coaches, and supports laboratory staff, including scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory/accreditation requirements (CLIA, CAP, OSHA, state regs) and participates in inspections and corrective actions.
• Collaborates with Regional Laboratory Manager to implement policies and system-wide initiatives at the site.
• Monitors quality indicators, investigates variances, and drives continuous improvement in accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
• Manages staffing resources and workload distribution to maintain coverage across shifts.
• Serves as primary contact for providers, nursing staff, and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve service delivery.
• Supports financial stewardship by managing supply utilization and assisting with budget adherence; identifies cost-saving opportunities.
• Promotes safety culture and infection control; adheres to workplace safety standards.
• Performs additional duties to support lab operations and organizational priorities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science / Clinical Laboratory Science or related field

3–5 years progressive laboratory experience with supervisory/lead responsibility

MLS/MT certification (ASCP or equivalent)
