Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field with 3-5 years of progressive laboratory experience, including supervisory or lead experience; or
• Equivalent Experience: 7+ years of laboratory experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT) or equivalent (ASCP or recognized certifying body).

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily laboratory operations at the assigned site, ensuring workflow efficiency, turnaround times, and adherence to quality standards while maintaining alignment with regional and organizational goals.
• Supervises, coaches, and supports laboratory staff, including scheduling, performance management, and professional development to ensure a competent and engaged workforce.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA, state regulations), actively participating in inspections, audits, and corrective action plans.
• Collaborates with the Regional Laboratory Manager to implement policies, procedures, and system-wide initiatives while addressing site-specific operational needs.
• Monitors quality assurance indicators, investigates variances, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
• Coordinates staffing resources and workload distribution to maintain appropriate coverage and operational continuity across shifts.
• Serves as a key point of contact for providers, nursing staff, and other stakeholders to resolve issues, improve service delivery, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Supports financial stewardship by managing supply utilization, assisting with budget adherence, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork, ensuring adherence to infection control and workplace safety standards.
