Job summary

Centralus Health's Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital Laboratory is seeking an Assistant Laboratory Manager to lead daily operations, ensure quality and compliance, and guide staff toward accurate, timely diagnostic services. The role partners with the Regional Laboratory Manager to apply system-wide strategies while tailoring execution to the Ira Davenport site needs.

The position focuses on operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and maintaining a high-performing laboratory team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field with 3–5 years of progressive lab experience including supervisory responsibilities.
• MLS/MT certification (ASCP or equivalent) is required.
• Equivalent experience: 7+ years in laboratory leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily laboratory operations at the site, ensuring workflow efficiency and quality.
• Coaches and supports staff with scheduling, performance management, and development.
• Ensures compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA and state regulations; participates in inspections and corrective actions.
• Collaborates with Regional Laboratory Manager to implement system-wide policies while addressing site needs.
• Monitors quality indicators, investigates variances, and drives continuous improvement.
• Manages staffing resources and workload distribution to ensure coverage across shifts.
• Serves as main point of contact for providers and staff to resolve issues and improve service.
• Supports financial stewardship by managing supply utilization and budgeting.
• Promotes safety culture and adherence to infection control standards.
• Performs additional duties as needed to support lab operations.
