Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a senior Laboratory Administrator to oversee the Clinical Laboratory’s overall operation, testing and reporting. This role requires strategic planning and strong leadership to drive quality and compliance.

The successful candidate will lead a large, diverse team, collaborate with hospital management and physicians, and guide workforce development, change management, and performance improvement initiatives to advance patient care.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science.
Registered MT (ASCP) or equivalent.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum 7 years laboratory experience with 3 years supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

Perform strategic planning for the laboratory; identify and develop departmental goals and objectives.
Provide effective leadership in delegation, organization, and coordination in managing the daily operations of the laboratory.
Ensure that testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality laboratory services for all aspects of test performance, which includes the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing.
Ensure laboratory compliance with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.
Maintain a collaborative, team relationship with all levels of hospital management, employees, and physicians to effectively contribute to the group's achievement of goals and to help foster a positive work environment.
