Oviedo Medical Center in Oviedo, FL is seeking a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to support specimen collection and processing. You will perform venipunctures, assist with registration, and ensure accurate documentation under supervision.

This role emphasizes patient interaction and adherence to testing procedures. Ideal candidates will have 2+ years’ experience in a clinical lab setting or related field, with preferred phlebotomy or EMT certification.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience performing registration, clerical duties, and specimen processing.
• Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic or EMT certification preferred.
• Strong customer service and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates thorough understanding of specimen collection and testing requirements.
• Proficient in venipunctures and finger sticks across age groups.
• Utilizes supplies appropriately and follows ID procedures.
• Completes specimen collection documentation and patient education.
• Uses the laboratory information system and performs registrar duties as requested.
• Prepares specimens for courier pickup and directs referrals as needed.
• Maintains records and troubleshoot specimen issues to ensure testing accuracy.
