Reading Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support receipt, registration, order entry, and labeling of high volumes of specimens in the appropriate electronic system. The role requires attention to detail and accuracy due to direct impact on patient care.

Responsibilities include resolving submission issues, managing calls and patient information, and performing routine instrument maintenance, with opportunities to contribute to process improvements within a CAP-accredited laboratory

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Analytical, collaborative, customer service, detail oriented and communication skills required.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and Microsoft Office helpful.

Responsibilities

• Completes receipt, registration, order entry and labeling of specimens in the computer system while complying with regulatory parameters.
• Resolves specimen submission issues and maintains logs; handles a high volume of calls and patient information.
• Performs routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on departmental instruments; supports specimen handling for procedures.
• Ensures accuracy and meets deadlines in a fast-paced lab environment.
