Job summary

Reading Hospital's Laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to process, register, and label a high volume of specimens in the EMR, ensuring correct order entry and accurate documentation. You will resolve submission issues, manage calls and patient information, and perform routine instrument maintenance.

This role requires strong analytical, communication, and team skills, with attention to detail and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong analytical and collaborative skills.
• Proficient in computer use and navigation.
• Experience with medical terminology and MS Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process, register, and label a high volume of specimens in the EMR.
• Resolve specimen submission issues.
• Manage a large volume of telephone calls, filing and distribution of patient information.
• Log and scan documents into the EMR.
• Operate and perform routine maintenance on departmental instruments.
• Handle esoteric test requests including processing specimens for FNA/biopsy.
• Maintain accuracy due to impact on patient care.
• Work independently to meet deadlines.
