Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Six months of prior experience as a lab assistant.
• Certification in Phlebotomy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes culture setup of microbiology samples and gram stain preparation when staffed in Microbiology department.
• Performs the phlebotomy function to ensure accurate and timely processing of lab test orders.
• Provides laboratory customer service including add-ons, specimen collection info and result inquiries.
• Performs clerical duties and maintains equipment and stock of supplies.
• Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
• Assists in preparation and processing of bone marrow specimens.
• Supports technologists with instrument loading, reagent preparation, and safety checks.
