The Lab Assistant 2 is responsible for the pre-analytical processing of laboratory specimens and/or for the procurement and preparation of laboratory specimens for testing. Performs routine tasks and tests under general supervision.

1. Sorts, verifies specimen labeling, enters orders, and distributes specimens.
2. May perform Point of Care Testing (POCT).
3. May collect blood samples from patients, verify records, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
4. Ensures specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled, and stored.
5. May order laboratory tests in an efficient, accurate manner.
6. May explain collection procedures and provide patient instructions to ensure accurate collection or preparation of specimens, facilitate understanding, and reduce anxiety. Provides courier services as assigned.
7. Complies with PPE requirements to protect against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious fluids.
8. Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
10. May register patients or provide courier services.

What To Expect

Work at two different locations in downtown Boise. You will work each Monday and cover PTO at one location, making up hours at the other. Both locations are outpatient facilities. Must be comfortable working with children.

Qualifications
