The College of Western Idaho is looking for a Dental Assistant laboratory Teacher to teach assigned laboratory courses in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Successful candidates are required to use the Blackboard learning platform for grading, posting office hours, making announcements, etc. This is a part time position not to exceed 19.5 hours per week, for the fall and spring semester. The successful candidate may be asked to teach M-F during the day at the Ada campus. To reach a broad range of students, the College of Western Idaho encourages instructors to explore alternative teaching styles and methods.

Essential Functions:

• Teaches contracted credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in the CWI catalog
• Utilizes outcomes assessment measures
• Participates in instructional evaluation processes
• Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels
• Monitor and record student progress, maintain accurate records and adhere to the College of Western Idaho’s deadlines for such procedures
• Demonstrates sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
• Current CPR for Healthcare Professionals and First Aid Certificate.
• Obtain Postsecondary Limited Occupational Specialist Certificate.
• Completed a course in education methodology.
• Assisted in the dental profession for 3 years.
Have a background in and current knowledge of dental assisting, the specific subjects they are teaching and educational theory and methodology consistent with teaching assignment, e.g., curriculum development, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation
• Ability to enact a variety of teaching methodologies including lectures, group activities and, individual instruction preferred
• Experience using a dental software program preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
• Proficiency in the use of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and Blackboard applications
