Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receive environmental samples and enter Chain of Custody into LIMS system.
• Review paperwork for all incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctness.
• Quality control of samples to ensure sample integrity.
• Transfer samples based on priority to appropriate custody locations.
• Coordinate and perform sample-related activities, including shipping and receiving, processing and administration.
• Generate reports and invoices, and enter data into the system for client-ready reports.
• Ensure final reports are prepared and results reported to clients promptly.
• Assist with client inquiries via phone, email, and in person; act as liaison between clients and staff.
• Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis; support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Assistant in Hillside, IL . This is support position for the laboratory manager and the analysts. It will oversee preparing, shipping, receiving, distributing, and logging in of samples.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive environmental samples and enter Chain of Custody into LIMS system
• Review paperwork for all incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctness
• Quality control of samples to ensure sample integrity
• Transfer samples based on priority to appropriate custody locations
• Coordinate and perform sample-related activities, including shipping and receiving, processing and administration
• Generate reports, invoices, and enter data produced by analysts into the computer system for the production of the final, client ready report
• Ensure the final report is prepared and that the results are reported to the client in a timely manner
• Assist with internal and external client questions via phone, e-mail, and in person
• Act as a liaison between clients and laboratory staff
• Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis
• Support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
• Experience in administration, data entry, and customer service
• Proficient in MS Office
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clientele
• Ability to work in a high volume environment
• Ability to stand and sit for various lengths of time
• Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift:
Position is full-time Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
