Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant in Hillside, IL to support the laboratory manager and analysts. The role involves overseeing the receiving, logging in, and processing of environmental samples, and assisting with daily lab operations to ensure timely client reports.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and familiarity with MS Office. The position is full-time, with daytime hours Monday through Friday and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is required.
• Some laboratory, academic, or commercial experience is a plus.
• Experience in administration, data entry, and customer service preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent communication and professionalism with clients.

Responsibilities

• Receive environmental samples and enter Chain of Custody into LIMS system.
• Review paperwork for all incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctness.
• Quality control of samples to ensure sample integrity.
• Transfer samples based on priority to appropriate custody locations.
• Coordinate and perform sample-related activities, including shipping and receiving, processing and administration.
• Generate reports and invoices, and enter data into the system for client-ready reports.
• Ensure final reports are prepared and results reported to clients promptly.
• Assist with client inquiries via phone, email, and in person; act as liaison between clients and staff.
• Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis; support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
