An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join their dedicated team. Job Summary
Collect samples for testing, including phlebotomy procedures, venous and capillary punctures, and urine collections for medical and legal testing. Tasks include: 1) computer inquiry and data entry to maintain patient demographics and test orders in multiple systems in compliance with guidelines; 2) processing and preparing samples for testing; 3) packaging samples for delivery to testing labs. May also guide new employees/students on procedures and policies. Work is conducted according to regulatory standards.
Work requires: 1) effective communication, 2) excellent customer service, and 3) knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, accessioning, specimen verification, and laboratory information systems.
Some assignments may involve out-of-office travel.
Education/Work Experience
High School Diploma or GED plus completion of a vocational phlebotomy course and a 4-week internship, or equivalent on-the-job training with recent lab experience demonstrating required skills. Preferably, two years of recent related experience in a clinical lab or Patient Service Center, plus one year of insurance collection/data entry experience.
Licensure/Certification
Current Washington State Medical Assistant certification, or Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist certification within 60 days of hire. AHA BLS Certification within 90 days. ASCP registration in Phlebotomy preferred.
