Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, seeks a Laboratory Animal Technician in the San Francisco Bay Area to support research programs by caring for laboratory animals, managing purchasing/receiving and daily health monitoring. Shift is M-F 7:00 am - 3:30 pm in San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities include animal care, vivarium maintenance, cage changes, humane handling, and assisting in training new staff under regulatory requirements including AAALAC and BSL standards.

Qualifications

• 1 year of animal handling or lab animal sanitation equipment operations experience.
• Ability to communicate animal health information to appropriate personnel and maintain legible records.
• Some computer skills (email, scan barcodes, timesheets and online training).
• Capacity to learn and assume responsibility for the routine animal caretaking functions.
• Able to effectively follow Standard Operating Procedures as it relates to Environmental Health and Safety procedures (PPE).

• Daily vivarium maintenance under supervision.
• Change cages, clean enclosures, feed and water different species.
• Handle animals humanely and with care.
• Monitor room conditions and report out-of-range values to Supervisor/Technician.

Yoh ishiring anLaboratory Animal Technician for our San Francisco Bay Area client. In the Laboratory Animal Technician role you will support the research programs of the faculty by providing all services associated with the care and use of laboratory animals including the purchasing/receiving, daily care and monitoring of the health of all species.

Shift: M-F 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Responsibilities

• Animal care, room sanitation, record keeping and minor equipmentmaintenance
• Daily maintenance of vivarium facilities, under general supervision.
• Change cages/racks, clean primary enclosures per schedule, feed and water different species of animals
• Always handle animals humanely and with care.
• Mistreatment can result in severe, negative employment consequences.
• Monitor room conditions for temperature, humidity, and sanitation.
• Report conditions outside of set ranges to your Supervisor/Principal Technician.
• Prepare animal cages for transportation between Vivarium's/facilities.
• Perform cage wash duties as needed
• Conduct all activities according to federal, state, AAALAC, and Facility requirements and regulations, including BSL 2 and higher areas.
• Assist in the training of new employees and act as area leader of Assistant Animal Technicians.

• Ability to communicate animal health information to appropriate personnel, maintain legible recordsfor permanentstatus
• Some computer skills (email, scan barcodes, timesheets and online training)

• Able to effectively and efficiently work well with other team-members in a high-throughput, dynamic, and physically demanding environment
• Ability to effectively follow Standard Operating Procedures as it relates to Environmental Health and Safety procedures (i.e. proper use of Personal Protective Equipment)
